Easter Weekend Tornados

Residents of several southern states from North Carolina to Mississippi to Texas woke up Monday morning to the devastation of 100 Tornadoes. The twisters destroyed thousands of homes and have left at least 34 people dead.

The most destructive Tornadoes occurred in Mississippi. 11 of the killed were in Mississippi which endured twin, 2 mile wide EF4 tornadoes of 60 miles duration, a very rare event.

The storm spawned about 100 tornados in total. Meteorologists said a deadly EF-4 tornado passing in Mississippi was at least 2 miles wide, making it one of the biggest Tornadoes ever. Storm forecasters from the weather service called this an extremely rare event. I million homes and businesses were without power at one point. 7 people died in a mobile home park in Georgia, and 5 people died in South Carolina.

Mississippi Twin EF 4 Tornados

One of the most visual reports had a twin EF4 Tornado event, both of which followed the same path which extended for 60 miles. It was only 3 weeks ago, that Mississippi suffered a Tornado outbreak.

 

The weather fronts crashed through the region on Sunday night through Monday morning. Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina were in this vicious storm path. It even reach into Maryland.

Some are calling it the worst Tornado outbreak in 6 years. And it couldn’t have happened at a worse time given the Corona Virus shutdown. Residents may have nowhere to go.
