Direct Weather Winter Forecast

Direct Weather takes its latest look at this El Nino winter forecast for 2023/2024.

Their weather models reveal warmer temperatures across the globe, much warmer than usual although is a typical El Nino year. The El Nino is reaching its peak out in the Pacific Ocean and those warm winds will be pushing mild weather Northwesterly up into and across the US and Canada.

Drier in Some Regions but Big Snow Coming in Others

Direct Weather shows both temperature and precipitation. In November the southeastern coastal region will be cooler than normal. Cold winds are moving in the last half of this month. Precipitation will be higher than normal in the south and southeastern states.

Warmth will invade the west into February. Other weather prediction services have a cold blast happening by mid-January into February.

The northeast and the Ohio Valley will see much less precipitation for January and February. That should make the drive down to Florida safer and easier, however Florida may not be the ultimate vacation destination this winter. More vacationers may be heading to Hawaii, Mexico and the Caribbean this winter.

Direct Weather’s forecast reiterates a big wet snowy season for the coastal southeast right up to New England. Could be some big Noreaster events with big snow.

Check out the winter weather forecast post as well as forecasts from NOAA, Accuweather, and Farmers Almanac. All three provide a more reliable balanced view. The big takeaways are regional snow anomalies and two frigid cold polar vortex releases.

Overall, this should be one of the strongest El Nino years ever, and some areas will have very dry and warm conditions this winter. It’s been 30 years since the Northeast regions had no snow during the winter, and that has implications for soil erosion for farmers, unfortunately.
